Anyway, someone else mentioned wyverns, too. So they must be a pretty common species around here, huh? Any idea where I can find them? [Does Blue want to catch one, probably, don't ask him that question]

[Exeggutor is communing with the trees, of course. Just kidding, he got bored and wandered off again to find a nice sunny patch in the forest to sit under. Blue listens in on Archie's thoughts- who better to ask about dangerous elements than a criminal, after all? He must have some insights into it.]

[Victory Road is nothing Blue can't handle... in fact, the way he describes it is almost like the routes beyond the road, the base of that mountain......]

[Blue's nerves always got the best of him, whenever he tried to venture up it. But that, just like here, had nothing to do with the natural dangers so much as the human element.]

[After thinking it over a little more, he shrugs. It wasn't what he was expecting after some of the other things he had heard, but it does put him a little more at ease. If someone like the leader of Team Aqua didn't think things were very sketchy around here, then maybe it had just been blown out of proportion.] It doesn't sound like that much of a problem to me. I guess I was worried about nothing...

If they're no scarier than you, anyway. [Blue lets out a sharp bark of laughter.]

Yeah. It grants wishes then goes away for a thousand years, then comes back. Maybe it's reborn? [archie may have met jirachi, but that doesn't mean he knows anything about it. he shrugs.] Scrooge... that Psyduck lookin' guy? Have you seen him around? He knows about chocobos and wyverns, I think.

[he just snorts.]

Cute, but there's genuinely scarier things than me out there. I don't think being here means we're in constant danger, but you still gotta be careful and smart about what you do. It's not the same world. The people here are sometimes crueler and more self-serving, but very few are actively malicious. You'll be alright, especially with the others around.

Oh, that guy!? Yeah, and he scolded me for calling him that. Sheesh! [Blue shakes his head indignantly.] I met him... I think he said the same thing, but he said to ask at somewhere in town. Umm... at the Welcome Center, I guess. That they'd be able to tell me who else to ask.

[Blue digs his toe at the grass, suddenly more hyperaware of their surroundings.] I just haven't gotten around to it, yet....

[Become a cryptid instead. Especially rather than deal with people like Archie's describing. Blue makes a face.] Well, I can take care of myself. [MMKAY]

...He really does look like a mutated Psyduck though, don't he?

[said with a light snort.]

Hmm, guess that's the way, then. Seems everything comes back to just go to the welcome centre. [huff. it's clear archie doesn't like that, though who would?] There's no real rush, or anythin'. That place ain't going anywhere. Did you find a place to stay?

Sure does!

[Blue huffs. At least someone agrees. The question earns Archie a guilty look that he once again tries to conceal, lips twisting and standing up a little straighter.]

I decided-- since I'm interested more in studying all the monsters out here, I decided I'd live like back on the road, you know? I've been camping out as I travel around looking for 'em. Um, sometimes I go back into town, you know, to stock up on food or go to the library to look for more information...

[There were inns there for staying once in a while when he needed a shower or whatever, but as far as a permanent place? ...He hadn't yet managed to settle. He didn't want to be stuck staying with some strangers in this weird, dangerous place. Monsters, he could handle.] I was thinking I wanted to do some traveling again, so it's fine.

[broceanic]

[it worries him a little but... that's what it seems like most other people did.]

That's fair. I did that for a couple weeks as well... hey, there was this idiot bug type trainer here a while ago called Guzma. If you find his old camp, take what you want, huh? Though he probably only left a bunch of snack wrappers and tarp... [he shakes his head with a snort.] For a bug trainer, you'd think he'd be better at camping! Ah, well.

[he does actually miss guzma, as ill-advised as that is. he's sure encouraging a youth to steal from his base is what the guy would've wanted.]

Ah... while I'm here, d'you mind if we let our teams socialise? Electrode liked you and Crobat weren't too pleased at being left out from last time!

[blueser]

Bug-type trainer, huh? [Blue snorts dismissively. Some lame Bug-catcher kid like all the nerds that hung out in the forest, probably...] I'll keep it in mind, if everything's not covered in Weedle silk. Ah, whatever.

[Archie's request is unexpected, and it makes Blue pause, glancing towards the balls at Archie's hip with what's almost an inflection of sympathy before he erases it from his face again with aloofness. His hand slowly draws to his own hip, puffing out a breath.]

[Pokémon must get lonely in this place... He hadn't really thought about it yet, but even besides finding things for himself to do, nor did his Pokémon have their usual training schedules to stick to, either. No Gym Pokémon, no wild Pokémon...]

Yeah, I guess that's fine. [He unclips a few balls from his own belt thoughtfully.] My Pokémon aren't a good size to roam free in the city. That's why... that's part of why I decided to stay out here, too. It's different when they have a Gym to roam around in.

--You should know, right? Where's a good place for Water-types to swim?

[broceanic]

Golisopod was the one he had out more than any of his others... it's an Alolan one. Never seen one before he showed up.

[it was archie's favourite. a good boy. the best sharp boy.]

Aye, it's a bit awkward in a place like this. Poor Gyarados must be feeling terribly cramped... [he shakes his head.] All I know is the lake by the city. There might be more further into the mountains or on the world below, but I've yet to venture down there. It's almost inhospitable from what I've heard, though, and I've not had time to take a few days to go explore.

[he shrugs, releasing mightyena, crobat and electrode. he pauses before he lets muk out, figuring he should warn blue.]

We can go to the lake-- last one I got that can be on land is a Muk. Fair warning.

Golisopod, huh....? I don't know that Pokémon. [Blue frowns, then squints to himself. What kind of Bug-type Pokémon was that...?] What's it look like? Is it big or small?

[Blue frowns, palming the Pokéballs in his hand.] ...Yeah, well. That's the problem, even out here. He's okay, flying around a bit, but it's better for him to be in the water.

--I'm not really bothered by Muk. Hm, but you sure do have a lot of hazardous Pokémon, don't you? You'd get on with old man Koga...

C'mon, let's go to the lake with our Pokémon. Arcanine, Pidgeot, Eevee-- come out! [He tosses his balls forward, his canids (and bord) materializing. Arcanine shakes his fluff out and sniffs curiously towards Archie's Pokémon as Eevee doubles back to leap onto Blue's shoulder, huffing at being cooped up in his ball for so long. Pidgeot disappears above the canopy of trees to stretch his wings, promptly ignoring Archie and his Pokémon.]

Come on, Exeggutor! We're leaving. [He calls to the Grass-type, lazing in a patch of sunlight, then looking over Archie's Pokémon.]

[broceanic]

It's big... [archie holds his hand up above his own head, then his arms out to the sides like a geodude.] With huge claws! I would've loved to see its pre-evolution, but Guzma wasn't the easiest guy to talk to. Ah well.

[he releases muk, the pokémon burbling a happy hello to all present. crobat flies after pidgeot but doesn't get too close, electrode rolls along happily. mightyena borks and leaps forward at arcanine immediately, delighted to see another doggo.

muk looks at archie and holds a hand out. archie rolls his eyes like he's so put upon then its hand. silly thing...] Koga, huh? The gym leader? I've heard lots about his Arbok...

[blueser]

Hmmm... like a Scyther, then? One of the larger bugs, like the ones that thrive in jungle biomes. Makes sense, if it lives in Alola. [Nod, nod, he sees now... A Bug-type that might be worth a look-into.] Hmph, those bug-nerds are all the type that keep their nose buried in their research.... Real untalkative nerds. I wouldn't doubt it. [ha h a]

He's Elite Four, now. [Blue corrects, watching as Arcanine barks excitedly and sniffs circles around Mightyena. He's happy to meet this new friend, even if Pidgeot continues to give Crobat the cold shoulder.... at least he hasn't attacked him, Blue thinks to himself. His bird could still be rather aggressive, at times.]

[He watches Muk with a slightly reluctant expression, while Exeggutor lumbers after Electrode curiously, watching the ball Pokémon roll about.] Shouldn't you wear gloves or something? Those toxins can seep in through your skin... [From his shoulder, Eevee watches the proceedings- eyes more on Archie than anything. Who are you, human?]

[broceanic]

Bigger. More armour. Same bodyshape, though. Probably the same egg group. [he snorts.] Research? Arceus, no, the only place Guzma's nose was at was a bottom of a bottle.

[he felt for the guy, but he's gone now. can't do much.]

He did have a bug and electric type, though... Vik something. Definitely never seen that one before. Not even in books. [because you only look at the water types you nerd] Ah? Promotion? Good for him.

I've had Muk since he was a Grimer-- they can control the toxins they exude and anyway! I'm immune to his poison, now. He didn't have as good control when he was younger. [electrode starts bouncing when it notices exeggutor following it, buzzing happily. look at what it can do! look! archie glances up to eevee, giving it a smile.] Aren't you a cute 'vee! Have you ever seen a Skitty? They're about the Hoenn equivalent of an Eevee, though they only evolve with one stone...

[blueser]

[Bigger? ...Like a Scizor? It truly sounds like the kind of Pokémon Blue would be interested in. Bug and Electric, too.... Too bad they weren't around to study anymore...]

[He raises an eyebrow at his shattered perception of the trainer. What, so the guy was a lush? Weird... what kind of Bug-type trainer was he...?]

Yeah. His daughter inherited Fuchsia, like it's always been down there. [Blue shrugs; it was one of those more rural, old towns with family gyms.] That sounds like their family too, in any case- I mean, being immune to Poison. Wouldn't do that clan much good if they weren't immune to their special technique, right?

[Exeggutor's heads babble at Electrode with friendly questions as they watch him bounce- ah, they remember being bouncy little eggs, once... As for Eevee, he gives Archie a long look for a moment before cracking a slight smirk.] Vuii..? [What's with this loser?]

[Blue reaches a hand up to Eevee's head, giving a few pampered scritches.] Hmph, Eevee is a species unlike any other stone-evolution Pokémon. For other Pokémon, the stone is the source of their power... You could say for Eevee, it's the other way around. They're unique. [He wouldn't expect you to understand, you pedestrian!!]

[broceanic]

[a depressed bitch, blue, you should understand this]

'Course not. It's just Muk's, though, from constant contact. Crobat's poison would make me sick and James's Mareanie got me once. That was unpleasant. Hell, even a different Muk would probably hurt.

[muk finally seems to have gained enough confidence to leave the two, sliming ahead to see exeggutor and electrode. archie flicks the slime off his hand.]

Oh, I know there's nothing like an Eevee, but cute lil' normal types...! [he's easy to please]

[He hasn't matured into thot mode yet!! Give him time and hormones and bad influences JEEZ]

Hm? Mare-... who's that? Ahh, well whatever, you're its trainer... [Blue glances at the sticky trail of ooze Muk is leaving through the forest.] It's probably difficult for him, too, right? Being around here...

[Eevee's grin doesn't recede, but he allows Archie to fluff him up with a prideful little trill. Blue rolls his eyes.] Yeah, he's real 'cute', huh...? You better not underestimate him, though. Eevee is my strongest.

[Exeggutor is careful of Muk's dripping goop as he greets the other industrial Pokémon. Where are you all from? What's your home like? Eggy has many questions.]

[broceanic]

Yeah, but he's able to hold himself back. The grass in his wake'll die, but better than poisoning the whole forest. Peromei's land is very much like a natural location for him, so I must see about taking him there more often. Ah-- that's my Arehtei.

[both muk and electrode babble happily at exeggutor, assuming the three headed psychic type can differentiate between two heads talking at it. they tell him about the aqua base, hoenn, and electrode talks about his friend electrode who was with him in the base as a trap.]

Ah... don't worry, Blue. I know from May not to underestimate any Pokémon in the hands of a champion. You could send out a Caterpie and I'd be sweatin'! What a good selection of Kanto Pokémon...

[blueser]

Peromei, huh. [Blue glances back, squinting. The Arehtei... that was like the legendaries that guarded this land, right? He glances down to his pendant, then palms it, a faint, pale green.] Do they interact with humans a lot? It seemed like they knew a lot about them, when I asked at the library.

Mine... what was the name again... Ai-ay-da...? Or something... I learned that it has little messengers, or something. But I still don't know much else. I don't know if I should want to look for it....

[He can't help a glance over his shoulder at Archie. Considering what usually happened when humans sought out the power of legendary Pokémon....]

I'm not sure. It's not exactly hard to find and communicate with them.

[archie meets blue's glance with a cocked head.]

I know what you're thinking. They're just like Pokémon and these ones speak. Seeking yours out would probably be a good idea-- it's... comforting to be around them, sometimes. They're like legendaries but... not as rare. It's almost common to see them around. Perhaps yours would be able to help you with your worries about this world.

[blueser]

They're that common? [Blue blinks, looking a little shocked. ...Maybe there were some regions, like Alola, where the protectors apparently deigned to walk amongst the human inhabitants now and then, but more locally- Kanto, Johto, even in Sinnoh and Hoenn it wasn't supposed to be common to see legendary Pokémon walk about.]

[The idea that he could just walk into one of them hadn't crossed his mind. He starts to imagine what they must be like as he follows after Archie.] So, what's it like? Peromei. Or the other ones you met.

[In the meanwhile, the Pokémon seem to be getting along well... most of them, anyway. Arcanine is cheerfully bouncing along with Mightyena, trading jostling rocks along like boys playing kick-the-can. Exeggutor is happy to hear all about their travels in Hoenn and tell of some of his own in Kanto. And Pidgeot... well... he's tolerating Crobat's existence, at least.]

[Eevee chirps what almost seem like little asides and comments to Blue's ear now and then; it seems almost like Blue can understand him with the way he nods or smirks along with him.]

I've only met Peromei in person. Sosyne has broadcasted that I've seen. Peromei is like... a Gogoat, but white, and Sosyne is... [he trails off a little.] Uh, like Kyogre, but grey. I've not seen her in person-- she's very angry a lot.

[which makes him uncomfortable, so! he won't dwell on it.

crobat at least seems smart enough to hang back and not bother pigeot too much; it's mostly just following to ride the air currents.

ahh... the starter bond.] She brought Muk into this world with a crystal. I guess that's a sort of power they have.

[blueser]

[They really did sound like legendary Pokémon. Blue dwells on this a little longer, listening to Archie's descriptions of them. It didn't surprise him that they could be wrathful, like legendaries could be too- and, well, Archie knew enough about that...]

What about Aiada? Do you know anything about it? [Blue asks, glancing up to watch Pidgeot and Crobat soaring overhead.] --Ah, you mean, that they can transport people and Pokémon between worlds? Can they send us home!?

[broceanic]

No, sorry. To, ah, both of those questions. Yes to the middle one. I don't know about people, though... I'm sure people have asked.

[archie shrugs, patting mightyena on its head as it comes back to him with a weirdly shaped stick he'd found! amazing! incredible! he doesn't offer it to archie, just shows it then bolts off to play with arcanine again.]

It would be nice if it was that easy. Maybe there's info about how to meet Aiada in the Welcome Centre...? Peromei's hangout was there.

[blueser]

Oh... [Blue frowns, deflating a little. He supposes if the Arehtei could send them home, none of them would still be here. Right...?]

[So once again, it all comes back to the Welcome Center, huh? Blue huffs quietly to himself, and finally gives in to the fact that he's going to have to accept their help sooner than later.] They're that brazen? ...I guess that's kind of different, for a legendary. [Blue considers this other power, though- so he could ask for the rest of his Pokémon to be brought here? He isn't sure if it's a good idea or not, but his Pokémon must be worried at home. And he hadn't expected it might be so lonely not to be able to call up any of his Pokémon from the PC, any time he wanted.]

[The forest opens up to a clearing, the horizon of the water just ahead. Blue reaches for Gyarados' Pokéball and throws it high into the air, releasing the dragon by lakeside.] There... now everyone can be out in the open.

Yeah... I think they're like, a step below legendaries in terms of interaction with humans but on the same level in terms of power and cultural significance.

[archie doesn't like it any more than blue does, especially with just forever being told to go to the welcome centre for it all, but there's not really much else to do.

he shakes his head, then jogs forward to get to the lake and toss out sharpedo's ball. it roars in delight, seeing another water type.]

Ahh...! Much better. Yo, Gyarados!

[blueser]

Do you know anything about the legendary birds? [Blue hums, popping a seat on the lakeside bank. He watches the water-types get acquainted, Gyarados blinking in the sunlight before he winds his body into the lake and stays there, soaking up the nice, fresh waters and slowly circling around Sharpedo for inspection.] They pretty much never show themselves willingly to humans... Not unless a person's wandered into their territory, anyway. I hear they save lost hikers now and then, but mostly people have to go looking for 'em.

[Like Red, that showoff, Blue thinks stankily to himself.]

There's no real oceans around here, right?
