I'm not sure. It's not exactly hard to find and communicate with them.

[archie meets blue's glance with a cocked head.]

I know what you're thinking. They're just like Pokémon and these ones speak. Seeking yours out would probably be a good idea-- it's... comforting to be around them, sometimes. They're like legendaries but... not as rare. It's almost common to see them around. Perhaps yours would be able to help you with your worries about this world.

[blueser]

They're that common? [Blue blinks, looking a little shocked. ...Maybe there were some regions, like Alola, where the protectors apparently deigned to walk amongst the human inhabitants now and then, but more locally- Kanto, Johto, even in Sinnoh and Hoenn it wasn't supposed to be common to see legendary Pokémon walk about.]

[The idea that he could just walk into one of them hadn't crossed his mind. He starts to imagine what they must be like as he follows after Archie.] So, what's it like? Peromei. Or the other ones you met.

[In the meanwhile, the Pokémon seem to be getting along well... most of them, anyway. Arcanine is cheerfully bouncing along with Mightyena, trading jostling rocks along like boys playing kick-the-can. Exeggutor is happy to hear all about their travels in Hoenn and tell of some of his own in Kanto. And Pidgeot... well... he's tolerating Crobat's existence, at least.]

[Eevee chirps what almost seem like little asides and comments to Blue's ear now and then; it seems almost like Blue can understand him with the way he nods or smirks along with him.]

I've only met Peromei in person. Sosyne has broadcasted that I've seen. Peromei is like... a Gogoat, but white, and Sosyne is... [he trails off a little.] Uh, like Kyogre, but grey. I've not seen her in person-- she's very angry a lot.

[which makes him uncomfortable, so! he won't dwell on it.

crobat at least seems smart enough to hang back and not bother pigeot too much; it's mostly just following to ride the air currents.

ahh... the starter bond.] She brought Muk into this world with a crystal. I guess that's a sort of power they have.

[blueser]

[They really did sound like legendary Pokémon. Blue dwells on this a little longer, listening to Archie's descriptions of them. It didn't surprise him that they could be wrathful, like legendaries could be too- and, well, Archie knew enough about that...]

What about Aiada? Do you know anything about it? [Blue asks, glancing up to watch Pidgeot and Crobat soaring overhead.] --Ah, you mean, that they can transport people and Pokémon between worlds? Can they send us home!?

[broceanic]

No, sorry. To, ah, both of those questions. Yes to the middle one. I don't know about people, though... I'm sure people have asked.

[archie shrugs, patting mightyena on its head as it comes back to him with a weirdly shaped stick he'd found! amazing! incredible! he doesn't offer it to archie, just shows it then bolts off to play with arcanine again.]

It would be nice if it was that easy. Maybe there's info about how to meet Aiada in the Welcome Centre...? Peromei's hangout was there.

[blueser]

Oh... [Blue frowns, deflating a little. He supposes if the Arehtei could send them home, none of them would still be here. Right...?]

[So once again, it all comes back to the Welcome Center, huh? Blue huffs quietly to himself, and finally gives in to the fact that he's going to have to accept their help sooner than later.] They're that brazen? ...I guess that's kind of different, for a legendary. [Blue considers this other power, though- so he could ask for the rest of his Pokémon to be brought here? He isn't sure if it's a good idea or not, but his Pokémon must be worried at home. And he hadn't expected it might be so lonely not to be able to call up any of his Pokémon from the PC, any time he wanted.]

[The forest opens up to a clearing, the horizon of the water just ahead. Blue reaches for Gyarados' Pokéball and throws it high into the air, releasing the dragon by lakeside.] There... now everyone can be out in the open.

Yeah... I think they're like, a step below legendaries in terms of interaction with humans but on the same level in terms of power and cultural significance.

[archie doesn't like it any more than blue does, especially with just forever being told to go to the welcome centre for it all, but there's not really much else to do.

he shakes his head, then jogs forward to get to the lake and toss out sharpedo's ball. it roars in delight, seeing another water type.]

Ahh...! Much better. Yo, Gyarados!

[blueser]

Do you know anything about the legendary birds? [Blue hums, popping a seat on the lakeside bank. He watches the water-types get acquainted, Gyarados blinking in the sunlight before he winds his body into the lake and stays there, soaking up the nice, fresh waters and slowly circling around Sharpedo for inspection.] They pretty much never show themselves willingly to humans... Not unless a person's wandered into their territory, anyway. I hear they save lost hikers now and then, but mostly people have to go looking for 'em.

[Like Red, that showoff, Blue thinks stankily to himself.]

There's no real oceans around here, right?

[broceanic]

I've heard of them. [sharpedo spins in place, snuffling happily and grunting hellos to gyarados. it's been so long since he got to hang out with another water type!] Seems most of the elemental ones are the same. Kyogre was right at the bottom of a caven at the bottom of the ocean and I believe Groudon... was in a volcano? I couldn't say; I was hardly privvy to Magma's research. Even after we started working together to clean up my mess.

[he shrugs.]

It makes sense they're still like that, though. We humans must seem like stupid little babies to them... [ah. anyway.] No, this is a floating island. I'm gonna go exploring down below with some friends next month... the water here replenishes itself via magical water cores. I've seen one before, they're... quite somethin'.

[blueser]

[Gyarados watches Sharpedo spin and rumbles a friendly hello, examining the unfamiliar Hoennian Pokémon. A smaller fish boy... They're going to get along just fine.]

[Blue gives Archie a side-eye at the mention of Kyogre, Groudon and Team Magma. Humph. Blue didn't know many of the details about what had happened in Hoenn... But this guy didn't seem to be trying to hide it. He didn't know whether the openness was commendable or shameless. But when it comes to legendaries... Well, incidents like that had convinced Blue they weren't worth messing with.] They had said some stuff about the surface being dangerous. Did humans do that, too?

--Wait. The water here comes from magic? That sounds dumb. [Blue wrinkles his nose, leaning to peer into the lake's water.] How can a rock produce water...?

[broceanic]

[straddling it, perhaps? archie can't tell himself, all he knows is there's no use hiding it with people from their world. he shakes his head.]

Don't know. Maybe. Could just be how it is down there. Inhospitable naturally, y'know? [he frowns.] Really? It's no different from a water type using surf and spittin' out the water itself.

[blueser]

Most Water-types can retain or produce additional water naturally, though... [Little mister know-it-all replies sourly, still skeptical of these lake-producing rocks.]

Even if it was natural... the surface down there, I mean, if it's that bad then why're you going down there? What's down there to bother looking at?

[broceanic]

That's what I mean. It's like that, just... not a living being. I don't think.

[he shrugs.]

Just curious. There's definitely a settlement down there, so it can't be that bad, surely... you're a young trainer! Don't you have a sense of adventure?

[blueser]

[Blue turns to deliver Archie a withering look, then tilts his head in consideration.]

When I arrived here, everyone wasted their breath telling me how casual battling like we do back home was too reckless because there's no easy healing. [He begins, looking Archie up and down.] So why would I go down to a part of this place that's apparently so dangerous nothing can live in it, when there's no Pokémon to be found and I don't even know left from right yet around here?

If you wanna talk reckless, that's reckless. What if my Pokémon got hurt down there?

[Pragmatic, that Blue Oak.]

[broceanic]

I'm going with a healer, [he says with a shrug.] Even then...

[he shrugs.]

I trust my team enough to be able to handle it. If things get too hairy then we won't go further.

[blueser]

A healer...? [Blue tilts his head.] Does someone have a Chansey or something...?

...Whatever. If there's any monsters down there worth catching or studying, tell me. Then, maybe, I'll go.

So then. Battling really is fine?

[broceanic]

Nah, she's non-human. It's a magical ability she has, though I don't know if it's something that's unique to her species or not.

[he shrugs.]

Sure. I'll let you know. I mean, I'd battle but only if my team were happy with it. [he saunters over towards arcanine to get a better look at the big boofer.] I may have been overly cautious before... now they're gettin' restless.

[blueser]

A person...? [Blue's head tilts. He still doesn't quite get that whole thing, but] Like that Psyduck guy? Well, what is she?

[Arcanine has been alternately wrasslin' and playing chase with Mightyena, and currently they're playing keep-away with a large stick on the edge of the lakebed. Arcanine looks up with an rrf, wagging expectantly at Archie.]

It's not good for them, you know. [Blue calls, watching how the dogs tussle.] When Pokémon are used to battling all the time, their energy only builds up faster.

[He glances towards Eevee batting at the water, briefly frowning with concern.]

[broceanic]

Yeah, like him. She's a Zora-- she's entirely red and white and looks a bit like she has a Magikarp tail sticking out the back of her head...

[he's a little distracted by arcanine, holding a hand out for it to sniff at. please let him pet...]

Aye, no kiddin'. Arceus only knows what Steven Stone's been doin' all this time.

[blueser]

[Gyarados perks up at the mention of a Magikarp-person, rumbling inquisitively at Sharpedo. Do you know what he's talking about, fish pal?]

[Arcanine happily pads over to snuffle, glancing to his trainer before standing still to receive pets.]

...That Metagross of his is too strong to have just been sitting around. I have no intention of going soft while I'm here, so I'll just have to stomp you all in the meantime. [Blue flashes a toothy smirk.] Hmm. You battled him since coming here?

[broceanic]

[sharpedo nods back-- he's been told of the zora here but hasn't actually managed to meet any! a shame! apparently they can swim up waterfalls as well!

archie puts his hands on arcanine's fuzzy head, scritching behind his ears. like with gyarados, he doesn't have any fear of the bigger pokémon.]

A couple times. Not seriously. Sparring, more than anything.

[blueser]

[Gyarados seems very impressed by this. People that can use Waterfall...?]

He's a Steel-type specialist, right? [Blue drawls, keeping his eye on Archie while he scritches Arcanine.] ...Well, I woulda figured not seriously, anyway. He's a Champion, after all. [And Archie is.... Well, he supposes he should figure that he's somewhat competent, if he was leading a team. Was he even as strong as Giovanni had been?]

I don't know too much about Hoenn's Pokémon, but Johto has a Steel-type Leader now, as well. Steel's reclassification was pretty recent, so does that mean he also used Rock types before?

[broceanic]

Yeah. [archie isn't stupid-- he can tell what blue is doing. he is just not going to discourage it.] As seriously as a Champion can be. Ex-champ, whatever.

[unaware of what blue is pondering about him, archie coos at arcanine, running his fingers through its mane. so soft and thick...!]

Nah, mostly Steel, from what I know. I could be wrong, but I'm only goin' off what May's told me and what I've seen of his here. I know for sure he can mega-evolve his Metagross, though. That's the one you'll want to look out for. Giga Impact on that? Whoof.

[blueser]

I saw it already. [Blue narrows his eyes, a scowl taking his face. That thing was strong, he could tell that there was no hesitance in Steven's body language then, of victory.]

[That really annoyed the heck out of Blue...]

[He glances as Archie pats Arcanine, the pupper wiggling as his fur is ruffled.] But, it's still weak to Fire. Isn't that right? Of course you'd be at a disadvantage. I wouldn't.

Where'd he learn that ability, anyway? Mega Evolution isn't used in my region.

[broceanic]

Ah! [...] Wait, what? When?

[god anyway, he's only half paying attention, giving arcanine all the attention, laughing at how delighted it is. what a good boy... mightyena gets a little jealous and barks, trotting over to shove its snout into blue's hands.]

I don't know. He might've been to Kalos to train. I taught it to myself. Maybe he did the same. You'd have to ask.
